Age 22 Chronic pain year 2..... Need help :(

Hey guys, I'm a 22 year old male from British columbia Canada.

About 2 years ago (1 year 8 months) I hurt my back at work, it was diagnosed as a Left QL Lumbar Strain ( I also had pain In my left lower "Psoas" In the front)

I Ignored the Injury and continued going to the gym ( As I competed In bodybuilding before hand) and possibly did more damage, But I stopped after about a month.

It is now about 2 years later and after Numerous Chiros, Physios, Acupuncurists, massage therapists ETC. I am getting in worse pain day after day.

It just feels like my body cant heal no matter how much i stretch and excercise (lightly) Does it seem to go away.

Almost everyday It feels like there is a knife Stabbing through my lower left Abdomen (Psoas or w.e) All the way through to the other side of my lower lumbar QL on the left side.

This past 2 months I have now started getting SEVERE neck pain at the bass of my skull and down into my shoulders where Some days it feels like I cant get out of bed.

The pain Occasionally shifts to my right side though (Like Today) Where my right QL ( Right side of my body from hip to bottom rib) Feels extremely strained and it hurts to move anywhere and also hurts to the touch.

I don;t know what I'm really looking for on this forum (Maybe just a way to vent frustration I'm feeling) But hopefully maybe some answers from some people who have been what I'm going through.

I'm EXTREMELY depressed lately I've tried everything, Had CT scans of my lower back (NOTHING) , Ultra sound over my lower left abdomen for possible hernia (NOTHING) , Spinal X rays (NOTHING)

I JUST Don't KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON!! I feel like my whole body is trying to shut down on me recently, I;ve had to stop sports, Gym, and almost all the activities I use to participate in. At age 20-22 I don't get why this is happening to me...... If any of you have any advice I'm ready to try anything, even out of the ordinary.... I'm really at the end of my rope here....... Thank you

Hello...

You mentioned the testing you had.
Were they done by a specialist?

My primary doctor tried to work with my pain couple years before referring me to pain panagement.
That was best thing for me!
He reread...viewed....the actual testing on the CD and would have disagreement with much of what was included and excluded in the accompanying written impressions.

He also did different testing. The EMG was most revealing for me in seeing spinal issues not previously noted.
So, spine specialist worked best for me!

It's not uncommon to feel depressed as your body is acting up without you being in any control.
Continuing to search for source and relief of your symptoms will keep you active with goal in sight.
Ex, you might want to have second opinion? And to continue searching until someone is helpful to you.

If depression continues or worsens, please see someone....psychiatrist, therapists...
They can help during these transitions in our life.

I went to one at the onset of my spinal issues. Eventually, I found therapist who specialized with depression and chronic pain.
That also best thing happen to me!

I am not a medical professional. Anything I write is from my own experiences.

Reviewing images

It has been helpful for me to review my own images, but I take an interest in imaging and in spine research. (I regularly browse articles from the journal Spine.) I'm no expert by any means, but I've been able to spot some possible pain generators in my middle back that don't appear in radiologist reports. If they continue getting worse, I'll bring them up to my doctor and ask about the images. There may or may not be a way to address them surgically, but at least when the stabbing pain comes and goes, I know a likely culprit.

Sorry to hear about your

Sorry to hear about your predicament, especially since you are so young and in prior good physical condition. Is it possible to go back for reevaluation so next time they might order an MRI of your neck and lower back? MRIs are the gold standard in imaging for spine problems, and CT myelograms are usually ordered to get a better view after MRIs are done. I only speak from personal experience from L4-5 and L5-S1 disc herniations and how orthopedic surgeon went about in ordering images of my spine. Do you have radiating numbness, tingling, burning nerve pains and muscle spasms? For now I would stay clear of chiropractors especially if you have nerve pain symptoms anywhere. Hold off on weight lifting or other strenuous exercises until you've been cleared by a doctor and they have a better idea of what is going on.

Ol' Spiney...Microdiscectomy L4-L5, TLIF L4-S1 -post op central disc herniation L4-S1, sciatic nerve damage, retrolisthesis, epidural fibrosis, facet arthropathy, severe DDD & OA.FBSS- Medtronic SynchroMed II pump.
